MGE/ESEA Comp Guide: An Introduction to the Medic

by Torin “Sigma” Stepan

The medic is the core of every 6v6 TF2 team. In the standard 6v6 format, each team is limited to one medic, and each team will use that medic constantly throughout the entire game on every map. Your team’s medic is the cornerstone of your ability to control the pace of the game – in the 7 or 8 seasons that I have played medic, I can count the number of times I’ve switched classes mid-game on one hand.

The medic’s main purpose is to keep his team healthy so that they have every edge possible when it comes time to trade rockets with the opposing team. A medic can bring a player to 150% of their normal health (known as “buffing”), which gives an overwhelming advantage against a player at normal health. In any situation where one team’s medic is respawning while the other is alive, there is huge time pressure on the team without the medic, as it is often a matter of seconds before the enemy medic has healed enough to give his team a massive advantage.

Registrations Open for the Week Plus Tournament

**Updated 12 teams registered**

The “Week Plus” series is a new 6v6 tournament that will be played with the standard league format that has to be played within 2 Sunday’s. This mini-league will consist of groups with up to 4 teams in each  and will have up to 3 divisions to accommodate all according to their skill levels. Stage 1 will have a round robin where all the teams will play all the teams in their respective group and then the top 2 teams on the standings will go through the Stage 2 the grand finals where these 2 teams from each division will have to play Best of 3 maps.

Note: Two matches from the group stage will be played on the first Sunday and then on the next Sunday the 3rd match from group stage and finals will take place.

There is an added challenge on this Week Plus tournament “Teams cannot pick a map more than once while in the group stage”. Even though the teams have the ability to pick a map of their choice for the assigned fixture they will have to manage to play 3 out of the 5 maps from the pool (For the finals the rule will not apply).

Note: It’s allowed to play the same map twice if both teams pick the same map for their group stage fixture but is not allowed for the finals.

This was Team Dignitas

Torden — Retard Brigade are ETF2L champions; The United Kingdom of Trolls have bested all in the nations cup; eSrael are ESL’s finest. And now Dignitas.TF2 exists no longer.
Just a few months ago, such a statement would be considered by many to be the end of our game as we know it. And as of last night, the towel has officially been thrown in, after a funeral lasting longer than the average life expectancy of a new form. Meanwhile, TF2 hasn’t flourished more since it was new.
When it comes to influence however, there hasn’t been another team that comes close to Dignitas, and there likely won’t be another. Be it for better or worse, this as the end of one chapter, will surely flavour the start of the next.
