TF2CSA First Cup Series Goes Live “Koth Kup”

The Cup goes live…..

[table “30” not found /]

The group stage starts today, Thursday 13th of May, and will end on Friday 28th of May. By then all the teams must have played all their games (playing each team once=6 total). The top 4 will go to the semi finals (1st vs 4th & 2nd vs 3rd) on Sunday of 30th May and the final will be on Sunday 6th of June.

As this cup will be running in a busy period where some players will be studying for exams. We extended the schedule to make sure the players studies and this competition are not compromised so that the matches can be easily arranged. Also this will allow a weeks gap for TF2CSA 6v6 v2 that will be set to start on Sunday 13th of June.

NB: ROSTERS WILL ONLY BE LOCKED ONCE A TEAM PLAYS THEIR FIRST MATCH!

Please post the result of your matches Here

The  scheduled deadlines can be found on the calendar over Here

Good luck and have fun guys!!!

Overview of Teams

i (WildGirls)

i might be the favorites after winning the 6v6 v1 competition but this Cup only being played on a single map is going to be a more challenging tournament as Koth_Viaduct gameplay will be the turning point. Their roster has changed with  Andy joining Operator. Kaboos will be playing for his team now Operator and the new additions are Wikus (from fury) after showing some promising skills, Sector and the well known Raliator coming back to the TF2 scene.

Enigma

This team started the 6v6 v1 competition quite slow and did not show any promising performance till the last group stage game vs Narcotics and after going through on to the semi finals they won the rematch vs Narcotics to get a spot in the finals. Though they lost vs WildGirls in a very tight game they are a team that you cannot forget about. Roster changes only Kung Fu who has left to join Equilibrium.

Narcotics

The Nc team was the favourite to win the 6v6 v1 competition as they looked very solid but after some problems in their roster they seem like the lost some concentration and were not able to keep a great performance on the semi finals by losing to Enigma. The have only one change on their roster with the addition of Speedy.

Equilibrium

This team has not been able to keep a good consistency with performances varying in each game. Their roster consists of very good players, but not all have fired at the right times. Changes on their roster includes the ever improving KunG Fu after sitting on the bench for Enigma for most of v1. There is word that Orr4cle might make a comeback but some bad news on their side is the loss of the very aggressive Carnage, he had to leave due to not being able to commit.

Fury

The Fury team will see a tough challenge over here but remember that Koth_Viaduct gameplay can be tricky so we cannot be sure which teams will be struggling on this map. Their roster sees Wikus leaving to join i and Instinct is the new addition.

Operator

As they come back to the TF2 competitive scene this team will probably be the one to beat with a well balanced team and _enemy‘s smart gameplay. They will be showing the current Top 4 teams that they are coming back to take the lead. Their roster (enemy-Po0n-seamonkey-Wir-Kaboos-Vindicator-Andy)

Shift

This new team has a mix of Angry Vikings and StyX players and it will be intersting to see how well they can do in this cup. Their roster (He@dShot101-Spaceghost-Alien-Dan-Da_Pastry-Racoon-Chicken-Sh00ter-Gymsona)

Shift

Clan Name: Shift
Clan Tag: | ﮒ |

He@dShot101 – (Demoman)

Alien – (Soldier)

Dan – (Soldier)

Da_Pastry – (Scout)

Thanks Message

Now that the first 6v6 competition is done and dusted, here’s a short summary of where we, at TF2CSA, want to take Team Fortress over the next few months.

Before we do, however, a big “shout out” and “thanks” to all who participated in the competition! The competition created a new found awareness of TF2 that has spilled over into the public servers and created a lot of enthusiasm for TF2. The cycle of public games to “pick-ups” to “clan matches” keeps the TF2 community strong and healthy.

So… “where to from here?” TF2CSA will keep the 6v6 and the recently announced “Cup” series to maintain the competitive interest of the various teams. But without the support of the various teams, a competition is fruitless. That’s why it’s important for all teams to work at staying together and growing together. TF2 has, in the past, suffered because players “clan hop” or just can’t get along through the tough times (aka the “losing times”).

TF2CSA will shortly launch a ranking system based on points series to help sustain team interest in the game. Points will be awarded to to teams that take part in the various tournaments and competitions run by TF2CSA and these points will track each team’s overall performance. Look out for these rankings on the TF2.co.za web site.

TF2CSA is also actively looking for sponsors for Team Fortress. Sponsorship adds credibility to the game and will often draw new players in.

We’ve also created an easy to use interface – just use the in game browser and point it to tf2.co.za/pickup – to join the exciting world of TF2 pick-ups. To join the channel is as simple as typing in your nickname. The system will automatically take you to #tf2 where you can join the pick-up.

In closing I’d like to make a request to the community at large. Let’s put the past where it belongs… in the past. Whether someone’s annoyed you in the past, or been overly egotistical or arrogant towards you or whatever the reason. Forgive and forget… Move on. Let’s focus on growing the TF2 community for the greater good of all. After all, the thing that brought us all together in the first place was TF2!
