16Bit TF2 in collaboration with TF2CSA present the very first X-Mas Lower Tier Invitational 6 vs 6 competition.
After the great dedication shown from the lower tier teams we have invited 6 teams to compete against each other for a cash prize this holiday season.
The group stages will kick off on 4 December and the finals will be on 11 December at 7pm. The format to be played is the Best of Three (BO3) format.
In keeping with the spirit of Christmas, TF2CSA is awarding small prizes for this competition. The winning team will earn R2100 (R350/player, bank details for each player must be given to Lola, prize money will be paid out on 12 December 2011.) The runner up team will get 6 hats (hats will be given to the team captain who will distribute them to his team.)

PanZy CrushorZ – (pcZ)
Not many of you might know the clan called ‘PanZy CrushorZ’ (pcZ). Currently they are the longest standing clan in TF2 SA history. They were created on March 8 2009 and have played in every competition they could enter. This team is known for their courageous hearts, impenetrable high spirits, for never saying no to a challenge and for always being gentleman.
They approached me and begged to give them a lower tier only competition to end off the year. They threw money at me, flashed their ‘Pretty in Pink’ avatars around… How could I say no?!?

This team is fairly new to the TF2 competitive scene. They have the legendary medic ‘Seamonkey’ as part of the line up. They also recently added Nick ‘bluNt’ Wilkens who is well known in the Quake Live community for his rocket launcher skills. Their dedication to improving their skill level by playing regular pickups has made them a team not to be underestimated.

Electronic All Stars – ‘eAs’
Duck is famous for his deadly bow. In the recent Highlander V2 competition he earned the ‘memorable moment’ in the finals by taking out an engineer, sentry gun and scout on his own, armed with only his bow. His interest in competitive TF2 was sparked and with just a small nudge he was convinced to give 6 vs 6 a go. His team consists entirely of pubbers, we wish them all the best in the (sometimes) harsh world of competitive TF2 in South Africa.

Unbelievably Friendly Outsiders (UFO)
This team played in the recent Highlander V2 Cup. We saw some extraordinary game play from this mostly pub hero team as they walked over the competition and ended up playing in the finals. It will be interesting to see how they perform in the stricter 6 vs 6 format. Unlike Prime (see below), UFO have no problem publicising their top-secret-on-a-need-to-know-basis-only competitive player: Alien.

Competition rules
Round robin all teams will play each other once.
The top 2 teams will qualify to the finals to be played as B03.
Each match is played over 2 maps, and the result is worked out over both maps.
- To win you must win both or win one and tie the other
- To lose you must lose both or lose one and tie the other
- To draw you must tie both or win one and lose the other

Info and rules
- Team Captains MUST have read the Cup Rules.
- Players must play under the nicks they have registered with.
- All participants must make sure that they have their TF2 in working condition. Players won’t be given any extra time to fix their game or Steam.
- Subs allowed as long as they are not taking part for any other team on the competition and cannot sub for more than one team on the competition.
- Subs must be approved by Lola
Match rules
- Normal Gamemode: 6on6
- Class limits: 1 medic, 1 demo, 1 heavy, 2 of the rest
- Minimum of 5 players needed to play a match
- Win limit = Point difference of 5
- Time limit 30 minutes for all non-Stop-Watch-Maps
- Golden Cap if required will be played with a time limit of 10 minutes and if no team wins the round in time the winner will be the team that has possession of the mid point.
Note: Golden cap will only be required for the finals as they will be played as Best of 3 maps.

Let me rather write a article on why TF2 isnt moving forward.
Legion has sea,legacy,and it is allowed, because that has been the team for quite a while now…pretty certain that has been the team since the creation of LgN. 5 months does not mean that you are going to be shit, this is a low tier comp…why do you want to come in and kick the crap out of the lower tier teams anyway?? it doesn’t make your gaming penis any bigger…
Your talking about an article why tf2 isnt moving forward…it because of bitching like your little session now. The rule is so that the teams STAY as the teams they always have been during div 3 games…because as there is prize money…it becomes tempting to simply employ the use of the top guys to ensure a win…and they get paid as well.
The purpose is to ensure a balanced tournament, where the div 3 guys can play it out for the prize. Something like this will happen for the higher tier guys at a later stage I am sure…till then, rather try and support the comp rather than complain, understand that that rule is in for a purpose…

Dan played for X’s team, how is he not a high tier player? They played Division 1. Seamonkey played for the top team in South Africa for awhile when Operator still played the game.

I’ve had personal threats from admins that told me “to watch out or else I could get a klap”. How can a person of power that should be setting an example for the community do something like that?
When I played this game I had high hopes for this community, but people like you put it down. I really don’t want to play in that comp. As you’ve read, I don’t like the way this community is run (ANC style) so there’s no motivation for me to want to commit to a team and play.
I was in one of the top teams 5/6 months ago or w/e and now that I haven’t played in so long my skill level has dropped a lot (Same with Shooter) and everyone else’s skill level has gone up.
It’s pretty straight forward.
You still have motivation to comment here so that’s still cool man thanks for the support.
The Shooter issue was more about the balance of the team as with CaRty together on scout UFO would have 2 scouts that know what to do and thats a big difference regardless if they rusty or not. Anyways he played so I guess we can drop that.

I wanted to do something for my div (yes the idea was mine, and that prize money…a portion of it is from me, a HUGE amount is from Lola). This was clearly a mistake…

You sponsored R2100 for the comp, by the time the comp came around, the previously excluded players had to come and play for the people you hosted this comp for.
I just find it a shame these people had to be excluded in the first place, we could have had a bigger, better comp here.
Don’t let this take away from the fact that I am thankful for the tourney, lets just not exclude people next time. There is a reason we have round robin and double elimination and losers bracket. You still get a decent amount of game time in normal comps.
Lets move forward and make great comps in the future.

Unfortunatly all the teams, except for (again) pcZ and eAs had player drops, due to TF corruption, work emergencies or w/e else. I did the best I could in the time I had available to find balanced players. Geno, your own team had drops 🙂
It just seems that the TF2 community can forever not work things out, there’s always drama and fights, with no support. Looking back at yesterday, this makes me want to withdraw as sponsor and call it the day for TF2. So not worth it.
The DG cup’s final match that we had this year was dropped cause of drama, the Week + tourney we had was dropped caus of drama. With the FO challenge also drama cause of something new that we wanted to try after, now this.
For next year we have bigger plans involving more sponsorship, but with a community like this we cannot move forward.

Clearly the issue is due to the widespread sexual frustration prevalent among certain teenagers in this community (who have recently gone through puberty). They are acting out against you as they secretly have a crush on you – in a similar fashion that you young primary school boy would tease and mock the girl he has a crush on. They probably want to do dirty things to you. Oh yes, and goats.
Lola, I think the best way to solve this issue is to post the bikini shots you sent me on Friday. Suggestive pictures of yourself should be the perfect aid to alleviate these frustrations.

I’m sure there are some valid points that can addressed in future comps, but I also know Lola has been working like mad the last week trying to sort out the arrangements for this weekend. I hear her frustration as teams make last minute changes, sometimes due to unforseen circumstances and sometimes due to bad commitment from the players. We believe in this community and therefor we commited to it our time and finances.
TF2 SA has a great community of players, and the pub scene is fantastic, I wish there was a way to bottle that positive energy and shelf it until comp times 🙂

We used to have a good comp community (or better than what it is now). Most of the older players know what we had and they all know what they played for. I doubt anyone has the strive to become better anymore. Captains don’t push their players anymore and players emo out when shit gets a little tougher.

Well said by Geno. And I am sorry if you guys felt excluded, was not our intention to “hurt” (putting that in comma’s because I know there is no physical pain…we are MEN…most of us at least…) anyone. From my side, I thought it would be nice to have a tourney were the lower tier guys can get some of the spotlight; some of the players didn’t pitch and I thank those that did come to help out, but how was I to know that they wouldnt be reliable. Those that are bumbed because this meant that they cannot play for the prize never fear…from Lolita’s thank you post it appears that there will be a tourney early next year where you get to fight for the prize, and you can still get to trample the lower tier guys along the way as well ;).
Sucks that this went sour, but there are a few games left in this comp so i hope it has not destroyed the mood…tbh I don’t think I have ever played such intense games of tf2 in my playing career as I did last night, the UFO game was insane with 8 minutes in between each capture, and R@pe the game couldn’t have been closer well played.

However, sorry to say I have never believed that the Divsion system will work. Protecting teams from better players will never help anything. I cant even bring myself to play pugs any more. It is just painful. People can aim and kill but they do not understand HOW to play the game. Its basically a 6v6 pub and worse of all players dont listen.
This community doenst grow (and I’m talking purely about skill here) because people dont learn form what other people tell them. Its very sad coz a lot of us are willing to help but even when we do it goes in one ear and out the other.
So on that note, if you wanna continue been coddled then keep the divs if you want to learn and up grow the community all the teams need to man up play together. Weaker sides need to play stronger teams ask questions take the knowlegde and use it.
I not point fingers at anyone or trying to start a fight and saying things are done wrong and what not. This is just my opinion coz I want to continue playing this game but at the moment I cant coz nothing is happening. 🙁
