16Bit TF Face-Off Challenge

16Bit TF presents the very first Face-Off Challenge, two brackets, 8 teams and strong competition will be put to the test in am improved structure to the One Nighter’s Cup.

Following in the One Nighter’s Cup’s footsteps, 16Bit TF will present a brand new challenge to the growing Team Fortress 2(TF2) community and will be held on Monday 10 October at 19:00.

How will it work?

The Face-Off Challenge will consist out of two brackets, one the Pro Bracket; this bracket will be open to the top 4 competitive TF2 clans and the Novice Bracket; this bracket will be open to every one else (also 4 clans), from mixed teams to clans who wish to prove themselves good enough to compete against the best.

The Face-Off Challenge will be run once a month, the winner of the Novice Bracket will be promoted to the Pro Bracket for the next challenge and the clan that scores the least amount of rounds won in the Pro Bracket, relegated to the Novice Bracket, giving them a chance to work their way up the ladder.

In case of a tie, a tie breaker match will be scheduled before the next challenge seedings are done.

Challenge Structure:

Each bracket will consist of 2 rounds, each being a Best of Three round. The following image will demonstrate the structure applicable to both brackets.

Map Elimination:

Map elimination will be held in the following manner, at the start of the round clans will be appointed 15 minutes to decide their maps played, clan captains will join the server and have a melee round, the captain to get the first kill on their opponent, gets to select the three maps to be played.

Maps Available:

The maps available for pick will be the following:

Round Durations:

Round 1 of the Face-Off Challenge will start at 19:00 and end at 21:00 and Round 2 at 21:00 to 23:00, during the 2 hours appointed, clans must complete the map decider as well as the three maps played.

Info and Rules:

  • Team Captains MUST have read the Cup Rules.
  • Players must play under the nicks they have registered with.
  • All participants must make sure that they have their TF2 in working condition. Players won’t be given any extra time to fix their game or Steam.
  • 2 Subs allowed as long as they are not taking part for any other team on the competition and cannot sub for more than one team on the competition.

Match Rules:

  • Normal Gamemode: 6on6
  • Class limits: 1 medic, 1 demo, 1heavy, 2 of the rest
  • Minimum of 5 players needed to play a match
  • Winlimit = Point difference of 5

  • Golden Cap if required will be played with a time limit of 10 minutes and if no team wins the round in time the winner will be the team that has possession of the mid point.

Have a look at the general TF2 rules here.

Sign-Ups:

Clan Captains, Vice-Captains or Managers can sign up their clans by posting their team on the 16Bit TF Facebook Group or 16Bit TF Steam group, alternatively the information can be emailed to 16bittf@gmail.com.

“the winner of the Novice Bracket will be promoted to the Pro Bracket for the next challenge and the clan that scores the least amount of rounds won in the Pro Bracket, relegated to the Novice Bracket, giving them a chance to work their way up the ladder.”

It’s a nice idea but…… if you can’t work it out…lol….
it rhymes with novice 1 being destroyed by pro 4 …. (in most cases)

Thanks a lot Lolita! Nice idea, we appreciate you keeping the competitive side of SA TF2 alive.

Headshot: A little less negativity would go a long way.

Thats why this community is so broken, can’t take the negativity. everyone has to agree…… ( kinda starting to get what tyelander says constantly…)

It’s not about ‘taking negativity’, my point is if you look at your recent, say 20 posts, they’re all negative towards what people are trying to achieve, to how they’re trying to help the community. The only positive thing you’ve brought recently is your much appreciated bout of absenteeism.

First of all, by pointing out that I think an idea is bad lends opportunity to re look at this idea, I did not say anything bad about the rest of the comp??

Secondly, Whisp, please grow up honestly. – When you start hearing this from 16 year olds that is when you should look at yourself in the mirror and question the way you conduct yourself.

Enjoy the comp, glhf.

Well I’m sure the finals could be arranged sooner if the knockout matches are done in time and if the teams agree of course.

People are welcome to voice their concerns abt anything we attempt on tf2csa, just do so in a respectful manner. If you think an idea won’t work, rather than just pointing it out, leave a possible solution as well.Otherwise you just looking to stir.

Thanx for your patience Lolita 😉 I appreciate your support.

After we get the 8 teams signed up we can discuss with them their opinions and so on.

If they say it would be too late we could schedule the finals for the next day or something, lets see but I think the whole cup can be done before 10pm if everyone starts in time.

Negativity or criticism both are normal stuff within a community so is not really that bad as we know that we cannot make everyone happy when making decisions. Everyone will have different points of views and as we already know we are not a great community because our divided group of friends within such a small competitive player base makes any small argument between these groups a sad dramatic story that keeps hurting our growth.

About the Face Off keep in mind Lolita is doing this for us to keep us active and motivated to jam some 6v6. This cup might not be a as skill level friendly as a long term league but how are we going to play at a proper league if we don’t have anything else to play at? How are we going to clean our reputation of “inmature clowns” within the SA event organizers if we cannot even succeed to play friendly cups and so on?

This cup gives those 8 teams that would take part on it some kind of consistency to keep playing TF2 and until we don’t improve our discipline, respect and stop the personal issues bullshit then we can keep watching European TF2 great momentum and wish you were there or have wet dreams about it.

Amazes me how negativity is always from the same (2) people in the community. Wonder who should grow up ay!

Headshot101

I actually didn’t want to write here again, but it seems as though people are addicted to drama ect ect

So,
1st of all
Lolita”
but as I have 2 years of successful league experience under my belt, I have full confidence in the local TF2 competitive community that they are able to take this as an opportunity to better themselves, this is the only way to control and help lower divisions get exposure to higher skilled teams to learn from and to grow and progress, you get better, by playing those that are better than you are ”

You are correct in part, playing against teams of higher caliber will only help to learn but in doing so you cant dedicate an entire leg of a tournament to getting face raped time and time again.
“but as I have 2 years of successful league experience under my belt”
is this in tf2? or games in general?
if in general, tf2 has a completely different community to all other games and has never been able to run in the same form or mannner.

Alright anything that is not relevant to the Cup will be removed, so please take offensive comments directly to the person, pm on IRC or steam and leave the public scene out of personal issues.

Only relevant arguments will be allowed.

Headshot, there is a structure to comps that work in general, TF2 is not that special. I’m yet to see your suggestion as to how this should be done then?

Headshot101

All I said was I didn’t think the relegation system is the way to go –
Certainly self suggestive no?

Still waiting to see if you can actually bring yourself so far as to make a positive contribution without being just negative and sarcastic.

“the winner of the Novice Bracket will be promoted to the Pro Bracket for the next challenge and the clan that scores the least amount of rounds won in the Pro Bracket, relegated to the Novice Bracket, giving them a chance to work their way up the ladder.”

That seems a little silly to me as well so, I suggest that the two teams play for the top div spot. Surely if those two clans are on the same level they could play it out to see who deserves the div 1 spot.

It’s much easier playing against inexperienced players, so I’m a little doubtful about moving a team up because of points/scores.

Make it an extra game when the comp is over.

I’ve tried that, got raged at by some people so I trolled them, now Im one of the most hated people in the community! BEASTING

Any teams that would like to pre-confirm their participation?

Lola

I actually really want to hear what he can add, what system is the way to go then?
– I think with making the cup 2 brackets, we are improving on the previous cup structure
– moving the winner up a bracket could be a problem yes, but imo that’s what competitive should be about, you have to improve, you have to play better teams
– lastly, if you look at the current list of teams, the skill difference is not so huge, since the div 1 teams are almost non existant.

It’s easy to say something wont work, even a fool can do that, but add constructive critisim, give us feedback, give us suggestions, be part of the solution.

Headshot101

Lolita, I see what you’re saying and I understand what your intentions are but i feel that that sort of thing(relegation) is a bit ahead of where tf2 is at the moment. I think the one nighters are great and should continue ect ect. Most SA tf2 clans break up during comps so the short ones work really well.

Lola, am I being negative in a way that hurts or in a way that brings growth?
It’s the same as you offering me a business venture in your idea in which you want me to invest, instead of me telling you I can’t because I have no money. I’m telling you the idea is “in my eyes” bad and not something i’m willing to put money into and you should better or get a new idea ( AN EXAMPLE THAT DOES NOT RELATE TO TF2)
Which would you rather hear?, the one that you waste more time on or starting again and not wasting time

Also, I think the contribution i’ve made is actually playing this game for the past 2 years, making teams and playing in the comps that razor has made in previous years and not just playing pubs -,-

@Razefox, pcz would most likely play. Just have to confirm with Zephon (Captain) and as always even if we do get steamrolled, we do enjoy the comps and fully support them. We really appreciate the effort that is put into this. I would also like to say, we would play the comp, no matter in which way it is organized. For a community that is still actually small (but growing fast) we need not worry to much about minor details in organization of games, due to the fact that people are appointed to organize this and we trust that they would organize the comps in the best interest of everybody.

Then….

Razer, can u please remake a clans page like in the old days that showed the logo of each clan, their members and what not. I was on that page like everyday seeing who is in which team ect. But only if its not too much effort.

can you also update the team rankings because for example my team “toxic” is no longer. And i want to see how teams like masters measure up “in rank”. get what im saying?

So yeah, cool.
, nice quote.

Fun and friendship = keywords.

Shot Arn3! We were talking about it the other day about a clan scene track thing like Vanillatf2 does. I’ll brainstorm again that stuff then we can have a page for each team and also we gonna do post when major roster changes happen, new teams are created or disband too.

Previously we stop the posts because there were more teams breaking up than dust… but I’m keen to give it a shot again. Also the team rankings page I’ll sort it out as well.

Thnx for the feedback mate.

Hi, why is it on the monday again?
Is it because of the rugby world cup? Theworld cup is being played in new zealand so all the games are early in the morning, and are done by 12.

Razerfox

Well on that Sunday the quarter finals take place:

9th D1 v C2 Wellington Regional Stadium, Wellington 07:00
9th A1 v B2 Eden Park, Auckland 09:30

D1 Most likely will be SA so even though the game is at 7am I’m not sure if people will get to party for the rest of the day 😉

I guess this is something we can discuss with Lolita to make sure we can confirm with all the teams that would like to play on the cup to give us like a pre-confirmation that they would like to play on Sunday instead.
