Ahh its a pity that the comp is cancelled but im sure you could set up a 1v1 comp or even 2v2. Wish i could come down but PE is so damn far 🙁

Yeah the low we’ve had now is not as low as the usual yearly drop in player count, so i assume that any comps happening next year will be well supported. Remember, it’s not the fact that it was cancelled, it’s the fact that we actually CAN do it, just need some players to pitch up. The space for improvement and growth in tf2 is there.

Yep it’s the same low activity period every year and we not looking as bad as last year so I’m pretty sure things can look decent next year.

Traditionally anything happening past october is going to have problems. Exams, holidays, busy year ends, all that kind of stuff comes into play.

It happens every year, this isn’t something new. Its disappointing, but don’t get too worked up about it.

Yeah Spike, if only people could see how much better TF2 is compared to other boring FPS games.

And Peng dude… it may just be a game but its a game you have put 1000+ hours into getting better and improving. Thats got to mean something dude since thats a sizable junk of your life. SO I think it would be worth screwing everything and coming to OC. Even I shifted my Plett plans to a few days later to come :P.

A lack of commitment of core players does play a role, but we really do need to work on getting a larger competitive base of TF2 players in South Africa.

I was so amped to show my cod loving, TF2 avoiding friends what the game is really about. People judge TF2 before they even play it. This OC would have been a big deal for TF2’s future. I know I personally have not been active lately but at least I was going to support TF2 SA and OC.

I am really dissapointed that the lazy TF2’ers out there could not get out their room and support a game that myself and many others love.

I hope we can partner up with OC in the future as they are probably the best way to get TF2 started in the LAN scene.

The problem here in TF2 is always the same “commitment” the social LAN plan really did not workout properly and I doubt it was bcoz of proper advertising. We were aware that December was going to be tricky as some players will be away on holidays.

We will try again I’ve not giving up on the LAN plan but next time we will make it a real compt 6v6 with real teams and let’s see if commitment fail us again or not.

Joint my friend even if you become advertising manager for TF2 matters things would be the same TF2 SA has a big “casual game” tag and really to change that is really difficult when we have a community where the majority of players don’t help or don’t care.

Advertising was not the issue here but rather the lack of interest, lack of commitment and December timing as simple as that. Perhaps we could also add anti-social egoists to the reasons as well 🙂

It’s only a game.
I’m seriously not stopping my life just to attend a LAN where all you do is leech.
Don’t get me wrong, I will prob go to December and meet the people, it’s great fun meeting people that you game online with and catching up with people you have already met.
But seriously, if I am busy working or can’t get to OC LAN on the day, I will not go out of my way just to go there.
You can’t actually force people to attend when they don’t want to.

I have spoken to a lot of OC regulars they are all pretty amped to have a competition for TF2, they will even play but most of them are really new or don’t play TF2.
I can’t say why the Cape Townians don’t want to go to OC, maybe you’re right that they are lazy and shit. But my reasons are mine alone, I don’t need to tell anyone why I don’t want to go to OC. Some people have different reasons. I don’t really care. But in the end it’s their choice if they want to go to OC or not.
