Details of the Upcoming TF2CSA 6v6 v2

The preparations for the promising TF2CSA 6v6 Series on it’s second edition is already on the works with some awesome news. The kick off of this competitions will take place where most of TF2 players (students) might be on holidays as the World Cup will be taking place so we decided that the Sunday 13th of June would be a good time to kick off and be able to play most of the games during the World Cup period to avoid any problems with the unavailability of the players.

We might be looking to play 3 games per week though we still to decide if we should play scheduled Match Days or let teams schedule their 3 games per week. Also this time we will use “Maps of the Week” pre selected by the competition admins after the list of maps to be used are selected with team captains and we going to review some parts of the rule set for this competition like the unlocks allowed and so on  (All this will be discussed with the team captains shortly).

And the great news are the availability of prizes for the Top 3 teams in this competition though the requirement to make this happen will be a minimum of 12 teams registered. This will be a good opportunity to try once again to give to the TF2 players some hope that still worth to play this awesome game in South Africa and keep having fun at the competitive level.

Signups:

Open: Monday 31st of May

Close: Friday 11th of June  11:59pm

Kick Off: Sunday 13th of June

Prizes: Over R5000 worth on Razer Products & DSL Uncapped Accounts (More details when signups go live)

NB: For new teams to enter, they will need prove that are serious by having to play a minimum of five games played against existing teams (screenshots of results required), this is so that teams do not pull out of the competition after been steamrolled on the first match to know what to expect on levels of skill and to find out that if the team has the right balance of players before they rage quit.

In other news the TF2CSA website will have a new design upgrade shortly and the integration of an automated ladder system for players to manage their teams and be able to challenge other teams to participate on a new ranking system based on the results of the challenges.

Yes guys this isn’t worth fighting about.
All I’m saying is…
Try play pickups instead of mixes, and you’ll see how the community comes together.
Mixes are said to be there to get new players in… but HOW if its pretty much invite only?
I doubt the guys in mixes go looking for non-comp players to join you, you just want to play a 6v6 quick without hassle or effort.
This will kill TF2 if it continues, mark my words.
We are a small community as it is, splitting us up even further is not going to help.
Don’t get me wrong, i enjoy a mix every now and then, its more casual.
I’m just saying if we migrate back to pickups we will see our community grow stronger as it did back in teh day

Vomit, you must remember this community was already split, most people was just too afraid to admit that. It’s the people who play mixes vs pickups.

That said, I agree with you, of recent I have been starting to play pickups again and mixes both, when they are available. I want to see you more in pickup, playing with friends is fun. Old times.

imho, theres place for both mixes and pickups as long as theres no situations were a pickup is 6/12 and a mix is 6/12 thats just retarded – this was the case earlier today and I thought it was just stupid.

It is diffrent if the mixes involve people who arnt normal comp players – Then ^5 to the mix BUT we should also play the pickups just as much.

How on earth is a mix going to kill a pickup when everyone knows about them? The server isn’t hidden from people who are not invited, everyone from every clan can join mixes and has (except _enemy because mixes are played on IS) Can people just stop playing the Grim Reaper and let TF2 run it’s course, in pickups there are only a certain number of players who play, in mixes i see new faces all the time, maybe old players, but players who don’t play pickups, some people don’t like IRC and the hassle that comes with installing it or the perceived hassle. This way people just join and see 6v6 tf2, maybe enjoy it and come play a pickup or 2 for more experience. THIS IS NOT HURTING TF2, yes pickups are down but Mixes go from 8-10 played a day, with only pickups we get 3 when we’re lucky. MIXES ARE NOT BAD

Agreed, even when people don’t play mixes, we still get 5 a day max. Some people play mixes while they wait for the pickup to fill, is that so bad? I have been getting a lot of people into mixes recently. A lot pub players that are amped to make a clan in TF2 but just need the necessary ‘guidance’ into 6v6 competitive play. How many of you have complained because the new player doesn’t know what to do in pickups? Mixes can eliminate this issue and help them become better before they go into pickups. People must realise this.
You may disagree with me, but that’s what I think. I will still play pickups and mixes both, regardless of the situation.

Yes Whisp, you dont need to install mIrc to play a pickup….
You can go from FF, IE, or in-game browser.
Yes mixes are nice and fun and what not, but pickups shouldn’t be left entirely just to play mixes.
I see playing mixes as selfishly fulfilling your own fun, without considering the community.
I play mixes when there’s no pickup, but doesn’t that make you think
“what if the mixers just !add’d”? Yes there is a place for mixes, and for pickups, but when mixes start being filled by only experienced comp players, and theres 2 pickups in a day, there’s a problem.
Nothing i say will make a difference anyway as people only care about their own level of fun, so this is my last rant on this redundant topic.

Why do pickups matter if mixes are being played by everyone? You are complaining about pickups not being filled like pickups are veeery important, 6v6 pickup competitive play is more important than mix 6v6 competitive play?

Brain.
It’s the same thing, and like I said, mixes fill faster than pickups for some reason, with new people playing including everyone who plays pickups. So why is there a problem?!

Your only answer to my first post was to comment on something as trivial as IRC access, not the more important factors and points. If you have nothing constructive to say other than bitching about why 4 pickups aren’t being played in a day when we have 10 mixes being played a day, then you’re right, don’t post here again. maybe you’re upset because everyone thinks you’re a doos and won’t invite you to mixes on account of you being an idiot and a liability to what we’re trying to achieve.
